GI update

Question:

personally, i think diet is over rated.  yes, in my case it makes pretty much no diffence.  i guess for some it could make a lot of difference, but by in large, it is probably the least contributer/helper to the problem in most cases. jeffy

Faisal we all know it’s bull.  Diet does make a difference.  And a liquid diet may help you as long as you don’t just drink water with no nutrition. Have you tried the low residue diet?   You have to adjust it to what you are able to tolerate but it does give good ideas to help.  I have a link if you need it just let me know.  UM MOM Susan

Hi everyone, I just had an appointment with my GI and am a bit pissed off. I’m at st marks and seem to see a different doc every single time. He pulls out the same old story that diet doesnt make a difference, and didnt really offer any help except suggest that I could try loperamide to slow my gut down, even though I dont have diarrohea but do have fast transit and bad malabsorption. Loperamide doesnt help and even worsens my colitis, but he ignored that.  Well I asked him about if I could do a liquid diet or maybe elemental and he said no because there’s no evidence that it works for colits and wouldn’t be appropriate for me.  Maybe my regular doc at my local hospital will be able to help more.
