blood work concern
Question:
<<Good luck and let us know, we too are worrying! Thanks for the care & concern!! In my opinion it wasn’t such an emergency that I had to come in during their lunch break, but that’s what they wanted. My calcium & potassium were a little low and my carbon dioxide was a little high. All he said was to add some vitamin supplements to my diet. Now what in the hell was so urgent about that and why didn’t he just relay that info by phone?????? Patsy : )
Response:
Glad to hear it wasn’t a big deal — sorry for the stress it caused!!!! I have no idea why doctors do this. . . Rebecca

Sounds like he is just trying to justify the high cost of his care! This way, he makes you believe he cares so much you don’t mind paying his bill when it comes in! Margie CD Class of 67 UC Class of 96

Don’t panic too much (yet), My hubby got a similar call and when he went in, they had done the wrong test on his blood and the doc wanted to do it over again (scared us all crazy)! Please let us know what you find out. Rebecca

Hi Patsy, the last time I got called in right after a CBC was because I was anemic and they wanted to give me a blood transfusion. It was on a Friday too, and they had me go to the hospital for a weekend stay. Do you feel tired, shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat doing anything more strenuous than breathing? I don’t know if that is what they were calling about, but that is the only thing that I can think of. On the bright side, at least it is not so urgent that it can’t wait until after the weekend. Patsy, I’m not sure why they want to see you but if it were me I’d put my mind at ease and leave a message to speak with the GI today! Ask him why they need to see you. As Cliff said they do not think it emergency enough to have you go to the hospital, but I know talking to the doctor would put your mind at ease. Good luck and let us know, we too are worrying!
