Some will recommend coffee enemas or other irritating mixtures. A good start would be to pick up a book by Dr. McGarey of the ARE clinic in Pheonix, AZ and use his advice. When I was sixteen I had a lot of the symtoms of colitis, along with IBS, which I had suffered from on and off with for years. Normally you wouldn’t use an enema of any kind to treat colitis because it causes diarrhea, but one doctor prescribed cortenema, which was like a Fleet’s enema with cortisone. I would get that at night, usually while lying in bed, very slowly, and then try to hold it until morning, or at least for a few hours.I couldn’t hold them for more than half an hour at first, then I got a small enema with plain warm water in the evening. That made a lot of difference. I got to where I could hold all of the cortenema until morning, or even until it was absorbed. After about a dozen treatments over six months, the symptoms abated and haven’t returned, thank goodness! Lisa
