Hi Maureen, I know it has really deteriorated. It is so sad, especially in a life/death situation. Also, Susan I hope you don’t mind us talking about this on the newsgroup. If you do, please let us know. I don’t want to cause more stress when we already have stress to deal with. Thank you. Well, the website has alot of information which she could check out. Also here is Tony Clements (Minister Of Health in Ontario) phone number – 416-327-4300. It is freely available on the site. http://www.gov.on.ca/health/index.html I hope this will help some. If not in Ontario, then I will need to know which province, k. Jennie

It’s gotten quite a bit worse in BC also. My GI doc is absolutely swamped, when I make a follow-up appointment his secretary is always trying different ways of fitting everyone in, it’s deteriorated a lot in the past 5 years. Don’t even bother to try to see a GI without a refferal from your GP, most of them will not see a person without a refferal unless you end up in the ER in terrible shape, then you end up with the GI on call which worked very well for me, I have been seeing her for 19 years now. In Canada all you need is to get your GP to refer you to another GI any GI without worrying about whether your insurance will deal with him or not. For all of it’s short comings our medicare system does have some virtues. Paul – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – >Tania don’t play around with cd. Well, I am from Canada, and I don’t think our Health system ranks the best in the world. It did at one point, but, the last 10 years it has gone down hill and keeps going down. I really feel for you Tania, I am in Ontario and it is so difficult if not impossible to change doctors, especially GI doctors. I assume you also have a family doctor too. You should talk to him/her and see if they can’t arrange for you to see someone else. This is what I did, it took about 6 months. Eventually I found a GI I really like and he is super understanding and there is no messing around with him. Sorry, I can’t be of more help. It also depends on which province you are in, as it varies from province to province.
