First, there is nowhere that you "went wrong;" diseases like Colitis afflict people in all walks of life, and all ages. Second, find yourself a good GI (ask for recommendations from your family doctor, the doctor who treated you in hospital etc.) and get treatment ASAP. Bleeding from your gut is no joking matter! I find that the most important aid to my day-to-day functioning is to keep a positive attitude. It isn’t always easy, but it’s kept me going for 25 years. Be well, Daniel Pfeffer CD class of ‘75
Response:
colitis or any other IBD just doesn’t go away …. it may go into hiding (remission) but sooner or later it will come back … somethimes as a mild annoyance, other times in a full fledge war !!
Response:
You did’nt do anything wrong but if you are still passing so much blood I’d quickly get a blood workup as you can be servely amenic. I’ve been there and you may need a hemmotogist to keep an eye out for you. Susan
Response:
If you really feel that you passed that much blood, please, no matter how weak you feel, get to the hospital. Don’t wait.
Response:
A little blood goes a long way, especially mixed with the water in the toilet bowl, but don’t ignore it, get it sorted urgently. I was told that my colitis could have been due to giving up smoking! Can’t do right for doing wrong! Geoff

I just got out of hospital with pneumonia and colitis. Well its been 2 weeks pneumonia is gone but colitis lingers on. On top of that last night i passed about 1/2 pint of blood at least. Reason I say at least is because next morning i could barely stand up. Sounds like this is going to be something that doesn’t go away too soon. I’m quite depressed about it. Don’t know where I went wrong.
